(Reuters) – After 43 monkeys escaped a research facility in a small South Carolina city, police on Thursday urged residents to lock their houses and keep away from approaching the animals below any circumstances.
In a press release posted on its Fb (NASDAQ:) web page, the Yemassee, South Carolina, police division stated the younger feminine rhesus macaques escaped Wednesday. Police within the city of about 2,000 have been serving to workers of the research heart, Alpha Genesis, seek for the escapees.
The police didn’t say how the monkeys escaped. Alpha Genesis didn’t reply to an e-mail from Reuters or return a name.
The police stated that they had been knowledgeable by Alpha Genesis that the monkeys have by no means been used for testing and are too younger to hold illness.
